I have practiced criminal defense law for years and can help you. I have been repeatedly recognized for skill and professionalism in defense matters.  I have provided continuing legal education in seminars and conferences across the country on a wide range of defense topics.

Prior to establishing my law firm in 1992, I was a Deputy District Attorney in Denver, Colorado, for eight years. As a district attorney I tried in excess of 100 cases involving crimes of murder, assault, burglary, aggravated robbery, sexual assault, drug distribution and possession, theft, fraud, and various misdemeanors. From 1989-1992, I was responsible for running the Career Criminal Unit.

Since 1992 my practice has focused on criminal defense matters in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate levels.

Representative Clients

My clients have been accused of crimes in both state and federal court. I have defended persons charged with burglary, robbery, assault, murder, drug offenses, theft, fraud, and white-collar crimes. I have represented numerous “high profile” clients whose cases have been widely covered by both the local and the national media.

Specific Experience

I have prosecuted or defended more than 30 murder cases including seven death penalty cases. I have also represented clients in drug cases (including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana) in both state and federal court. I have broad experience in white-collar cases (embezzlement, fraud, theft, etc.) as well as in violent crime cases and more common street crime. Over the years I have represented thousands of clients and achieved the following:

• Served on the faculty of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy

• Lectured across the country on many legal issues including, jury selection, habitual criminal prosecutions, death penalty cases, and ethics.
